Dh made me go to the ER today. He stayed home from work and told me to go. I wanted to just skip it and go to the movies, but I went instead.
Saturday I had some terrible stomach cramps, fever and chills, and lovely diarreah. Fever broke by Sunday night and I was able to eat a meal. Yesterday I faired well too, but last night was bad. I had to get up every 30 minutes or more to go to the bathroom. (sparing details)
This morning wasn't much different and my husband worried enough to stay home from work and send me to the hospital. I thought it was futile, but I went anyways.
My BP was high and my heart rate was high too. They drew blood (even a beta HCG) and did an ultrasound on my upper GI (stomach, gallbladder, liver, pancreas) mostly to rule out gall stones.
Thankfully the u/s came back clear so no worries there, but I was really low on potassium so I got 2 banana bags and a lovely potassium drink (blech), as well as one saline drip because I was apparently pretty dehydrated and well the potassium levels were not great. I was at a 2.25 and they should be 3.5 - 5 I was told.
In the end (no pun intended) I walked away with the diagnosis of gastroenteritice, a viral illness. Yeah lucky me!! They told me I should start to feel better in a day or two now. We'll just see if that's the case.
Now common sense seems like one would make it so that someone with diarreah would be able to make it to the bathroom easily, but not my case! NO, the numb nut's fixed my IV to the bed IV post, so I'd either have to wait for the IV to finish and someone to let me go to the bathroom, or be brave like me and turn the dang thing off everytime and unhook myself everytime (one handed mind you) just to go to the bathroom, and then rehook myself up, LOL Staff was laid back enough they didn't seem to mind, LOL less work for them.
So stomach is still cramping, I'm still running to the bathroom, and I may still have a day or two of this "CRAP!"
BTW I didn't want to go to the ER because of the diarreah issue. Blech!
I'm fine, my HCG count was 200 but I am only 4 weeks so am not worried any, and I guess it might mean it's a singleton, roflol!
